Symptoms do not assign a muscle category
Leakage, urgency, pain and difficulty relaxing can overlap. A muscle may need better coordination, relaxation or strength depending on assessment. Feeling tight does not prove strength, and a urinary symptom does not automatically mean that more contractions are needed.
Why generic exercise advice can miss the problem
Repeating Kegels because an advertisement promises better sexual performance is not an individual treatment plan. If contractions bring pain or make symptoms worse, stop the exercise and seek advice. Do not train by repeatedly interrupting urine flow.
What an assessment should clarify
Tell a pelvic-health physiotherapist about bowel, bladder, sexual and pain symptoms, not just the complaint that prompted the visit. Ask what the examination suggests, which exercise goal was chosen and how you should recognise correct effort and relaxation. Internal examination is a choice requiring explanation and consent.
How this differs from a Kasai session
Clinical rehabilitation links assessment to a plan and follow-up. It may include several approaches, not simply pressure or strengthening. A traditional service should not claim equivalence without the relevant professional training and clinical scope.
